Pears

Asian Pears are also known as the Apple Pear.  They are juicy and have more texture of the apple.  Asian pears can picked off the tree when ripe.  Some Asian pears are self fertile while others need a second variety of Asian Pear to produce fruit.  You can also purchase a Combo Asian Pear, where multiple varieties are grafted into one tree.

European Pears are the traditional pear.  They are shaped with a wide bottom and narrow top at the stem.  Their flesh is dense with a very aromatic flavor. Thesefruits are best to be picked early and allowed to ripen off the tree. Most European pears needa second European pear to bear fruit. You can also purchase a Combo European Pear, where multiple varieties are grafted into one tree.
