What to do in April for Gardening
-Fertilize all plants, either with a slow release granular or an organic meal. All plants include trees, shrubs, perennials, evergreens, berries and fruit trees. We recommend the Fertilome Start n Grow or the Fertilome Azalea Camelia Rhody Food for a granular. For organic meals we recommend the Dr. Earth Life or the G&B Rose and Flower.
-Prune out or remove any dead branches from trees or shrubs, after your plants have sprouted foliage for the spring.
-Prepare warm season veggies beds by working compost into the soil.
-Apply Crabgrass control to the lawn. Be sure to time it for when there is a rain storm or when your irrigation system comes online.
-Turn on sprinkler system.
-Check it and repair sprinkler system, to make sure there is no damage from winter and all plants are getting watered.
-You can plant warm season annuals and vegetables, but be mindful and ready to protect them from frosts
-Celebrate Arbor Day!
